MARUDI (Baram, Sarawak), Oct 30 (Bernama) -- Several flood waters in Baram district had begun to recede as of 9am on Thursday, the district disaster relief committee chairman, Joseph Belayong said here, Thursday.
Briefing reporters at the flood-relief operations room here, he said floods in the areas of Batu Bungan, Long Terawan and Long Kevok - within the Mulu National Park - at the upper part of the district, as well as in the central part, had subsided.
However, the lower part of the Baram delta, that included this town, was still experiencing gradual rise in water level following high tide occurring in the Sungai Baram river.
He said the rise in water level was however low at 0.15 metres.
Belayong said the situation had yet to warrant any move to evacuate residents.
